There will be a showing of a film of the 2007 Salzburg production of Benvenuto Cellini.  This takes place on Monday November 23rd at
the Odeon Cinema Panton Street, London SW1Y 4DP, the nearest Tube station to which is Leicester Square. It starts in 'Screen Three'
at 7.00 and tickets (£10.50 adult, £6.50 senior) are to be obtained on 0871 22 44 007 or via their website

The conductor was Valery Gergiev, the Orchestra the Vienna Philharmonic, and the Odeon website includes an admiring review from
Bloomberg News which praises highly the principal soloists.

We have just learned that Berlioz’s wonderful opera Les Troyens is to be performed in Amsterdam in April and May
next year. It will be at Het Muziektheater, with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Netherlands Opera
Chorus, conducted by John Nelson. Soloists are Bryan Hymel (Énée), Yvonne Nae (Didon), Charlotte Hellekant (Anna),
and Eve-Maria Westbroek (Cassandre).
Performances are scheduled for April 4 (the première), 8, 12, 16, 21, 25, 29 and May 2. Start time is 17.30, concluding
23.15, except for the performances on April 25th and May 2nd which commence at 13.30 and conclude at 19.15. There
will be two intervals. The Society is considering running a trip to this event. Please contact Society Administrator
